Director Biography
Edson Lemos Akatoy (João Pessoa, Brazil) holds a degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Federal University of Paraíba (Brazil, 2017). During the course, he made four short films and one feature film.

"Salinas Horizon" (2014) is a documentary about the abandonment of public agents in a peripheral community in João Pessoa (Brasil) through the eyes of educators of a state elementary school.

"The Dog" (2015) proposes a new look at the city and urban environments through the daydreams of two film students.
"I Want to Make a Movie to Sign Up for a Festival" (2015) is an experimental film that explores the use of subtitles as a narrative and metalinguistic tool, once again through the dreams of a film student. "Esquadros" (2017) is a film-essay part of the "Kino Experimental" project, which also explores urban and social environments through the delimited spaces of the interior of a middle-class condominium.

Edson also accumulates experiences in sound capture, as in the short fiction film "Os Filmes Gregos Be My Heritage" (2015), by RB Lima, and editing, as in the short documentary "Dias de Ira" (2016) , by Wagner Ramos - about the former Brazilian President Dilma Rouseff's impeachment, in the Manoel Fernandes' feature film "Selva" (2018) and Glue Trip's music video "Lucid Dreams" (2018) , by Larissa Silvani.

Synopsis
Will we forget, how to write letters? Will we avoid going outdoor, if there is no more need to, when everything can easily be done from home?
One of the ‚Vermächtnisstudie‘ core results says: the younger the germans are, the more important real human connections are to them. Analogue contact as a re-invention.
The moment of encounter is LOVE NOTE’s climax. A real human connection, empathy, tangency. Magic that can only happen by eye contact. So rare and fugitive. To have this moment as intense and real as possible, the rest of the film is quite over the top. Dark kitsch reminding of Tim Burton drags us into a magic fairy tale world. Cut off from the outside world. The melancholy of hungry fish in a digital fish tank. A strange plush-nightmare oversubscribing the return to analogue as a challenge to find relief in a real human kiss.

Synopsis
Mozambique has the second largest mangrove area in Africa, but the unsustainable resource exploitation is causing it serious damages that might become, with time, irreversible. With more and more cyclones each year, we must try to understand now the role played by these suspended forests in mitigation of climate changes, and how to preserve them without compromising the communities’ subsistence. Mahid makes his living thanks to the resources collected from the mangroves for at least fifteen years. And, like him, other people in the community depend on the the wood and the wildlife that live around them to subsist. With the strong increase of population in the neighboring cities, and the lack of employment, more and more people are coming from outside to extract large quantities of stakes for reselling. And Mahid, who in the past just needed to cross the river, now has to walk much farther to manage to feed his 11 children.

Synopsis
Kalunga is the word of Kimbundo which means sea. But like many other words of Angolan national languages, Kalunga also means immensity and death. From ancestral times, the Atlantic is seen by the Angolan people as a powerful entity, to which the populations have a lot of respect. It was by the sea that the Portuguese navigators arrived, that the slaves departed and so many fishermen lost, and still lose, life. They created myths and fed fears, leaving hundreds of miles of coast to explore. In 2014, three international surfers accept the challenge: to travel the coast of this country from north to south and discover an Angola that few have seen. Alex, Chloé and Emiliano will visit a country that the war has hidden for 40 years. Between hidden places and unlikely adventures, they find a small community of young Angolan surfers: a fearless generation that will change the meaning of Kalunga and dream of the future of Angola. A trip in which surfing reveals what is beyond the waves, taking on an experience of cultural fusion, symbiosis with nature and a tool of social inclusion.

Synopsis
At its inception, São Tomé e Príncipe based its economy around the slave trade and on a single plantation crop. Sugar cane. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, after having also introduced coffee and cocoa to the islands, the abolition of slavery meant that the colonial Portuguese had to look elsewhere for labourers. Namely from Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde. Thus heralding the dawn of forced labour in the plantations of São Tomé e Príncipe. Half a century after the first Cape Verdean labourers arrived, the old colonial barriers have still not completely disappeared. Many ex labourers and their descendants still live on the peripheries of society, left to their fate in the plantations, where they try to eke out a living.

Director Biography
She worked ten years as social worker and teacher. I could touch several different cultures and get richer as a human being. But I missed the creative process. So I took classes of professional photography and I worked for the press (Télérama, GéoAdo) and organisations like The League Against Cancer and The City of Paris. At the same time I was writing screenplays, both for short and feature films. I tried several screenplay contests till the day a door opened. My screenplay won the 1st prize of the SIRAR found at the International Film Festival of Aubagne. So I directed my first short film, “Jours Intranquilles” (Unquiet Days), produced by Le GREC.
